About myself;

A graduate of University College, London, I took my teaching certificate (PGCE) at the Institute of Education in London a long time ago!

Over the years I have taught physics to boys and girls from age 10 to 18+, at Forest School in West Essex, at St Bees School in West Cumberland and Harrison College in the West Indies (Barbados). Back in the UK I taught in Surrey, firstly at Guildford County School and finally at Kingston Grammar School.

As a founder member of the Association for Science Education (I belonged to the Science Masters’ Association, which preceded it!) I have benefited much and have served the Association in various roles. On a number of occasions I have demonstrated ‘How to use toys in physics teaching’ to groups of fellow teachers.

Since retiring from teaching I have, with the help of my wife, given a number of demonstrations of my collection of ‘scientific’ toys to groups such as the Women’s Institute and Townswomen’s Guild. All in the cause of Physics!

I am married, with three children, from whom I have been known to ‘borrow’ toys. As they grew up roles were reversed and they started buying me toys for my birthdays!
